Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

Oblig. New Years Post!

Ahoy hoy, deviants!

I hope everyone had a great and minimally stressful holiday season. I feel like an old person, because I really can't believe that 2012 is already over. My brain says it should just be beginning to be fall, but here I am sitting at home in my jammies typing this up from 2013.

I had a really fantastic year. There were definitely some downs, I lost a very dear cousin to a misdiagnosed disease and some other family members are going through hard times, but those moments are still able to provide me with insight and appreciate the life that I have.

On the positive side, I met some great people this year, and continued friendships with other amazing people that I am grateful to have in my life as well. I love you guys! I also got an amazing gift of a camera upgrade from the ever amazing ~Rambid. I'm full frame now, babies >:U I've gotten such a great response from family, friends, and strangers alike about my photography. It's been refreshing and surprising. I will occasionally have the moment of self doubt, is this really going to be a success or am I chasing a dream... but I'm feeling pretty good about it!

I am very much looking forward to 2013. I can feel it, it's gonna be a great year (: I will try to update at least monthly on here with progress. I'm considering doing a photo blog (probably on tumblr) with behind the scenes shots of shoots and whatnot, so keep your eyes peeled!

Conventions and whatnot

My con season this year is most likely going to be A-Kon and Afest again, although I would really like to attend Matsuri in March... it will depend entirely on whether or not I can find people with an open room spot XD

Cosplay-wise, I'm going to be starting on two of my most ambitious/most difficult things to date... so we'll see how that goes. I'm very excited about them, though. One is completely girly and fluffy and frilly, and the other is weird and armored and kinda complicated (but Jason and I will finally be able to make a sword! although I'm sure he'll take the leadership on that one). January is research and sketch month, and I'm going to begin ordering supplies probably in early February and hopefully hit up that Golden D'or mega sale. So woohoo!
